Fees & rebates
Seeing a Psychologist can be more affordable than you think.
We are a mixed-billing practice. Medicare and private health rebates substantially lower the cost of seeing one of our Gold Coast Psychologists. Please note, we are not a bulk-billing practice.
Medicare - Better Access initiative
MindTree Psychologists are registered with Medicare under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative. Eligible clients can claim a Medicare rebate of $149.05 per individual session for up to ten sessions per calendar year - reducing out-of-pocket costs to $125.95 per session. Rebates are processed at the time of your appointment and paid directly into your nominated bank account.
| Fee (per session) | Rebate | Out of pocket |
|---|---|---|
| $275 | $149.05 | $125.95 |
Steps to access psychological services under Medicare
- 1See your GP.
Request an extended appointment. Your GP will assess your eligibility for a referral and, if appropriate, provide a Mental Health Treatment Plan enabling Medicare rebates.
- 2Get in touch.
Contact our practice to book an appointment. Bring your referral, Medicare card and EFTPOS card - we use electronic claiming so your rebate is processed immediately.
- 3Check back in with your GP.
Your initial referral covers up to six sessions. After your sixth appointment we provide a progress report to your GP, who may issue a new referral for up to four further sessions per calendar year.
Clients referred by their Psychiatrist or Paediatrician are also eligible for the Medicare rebate and do not require a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan.
Private health funds
MindTree Psychology is registered with most private health funds. If your policy includes psychological counselling as extras cover you may be eligible for a partial rebate. Rebates vary by fund and level of cover - we recommend contacting your insurer to confirm your entitlements. We process most private health fund rebates on the spot via HICAPS, so you only pay the gap fee at the time of your appointment.
Self-referrals
If you would prefer not to visit your GP for a referral, or you are not eligible under Medicare, you can simply make an appointment to see one of our Psychologists. Self-referred clients pay the cost of sessions at their own expense.
Chronic Disease Management Scheme
A Government initiative assisting people living with a chronic disease or complex medical illness. Eligible clients can claim a Medicare rebate for up to five allied-health sessions with a Psychologist, arranged through a GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangements.
| Fee (60 min. session) | Rebate | Out of pocket |
|---|---|---|
| $275 | $63.40 | $211.60 |
Department of Veterans' Affairs
Our services are bulk billed for holders of a DVA Gold Card. DVA White Card holders should confirm eligibility for psychology services directly with the Department of Veterans' Affairs on 1800 555 254.
Assessment fees
Assessment and report-writing fees vary depending on client needs and the purpose of the assessment. Fees include an initial interview, administration of applicable tests, preparation of a psychological report, and a feedback session. Please discuss any assessment or report requirements with our practice prior to booking, and allow adequate notice as reports are generally unable to be completed the same day.
Cancellation & rescheduling
MindTree Psychology has a 24-hour cancellation and rescheduling policy. Changes or cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice - including same-day and unattended appointments - incur the full session fee, payable prior to rebooking. Medicare and private health funds do not provide rebates for cancelled or unattended appointments.
