Fees & Rebates
We are a mixed billing practice. This means that our consultation fees and rebates depend on the nature of the services provided. If you hold a current Health Care, Pension or Concession Card, or are a full-time tertiary student, we can bulk bill your appointments with a referral from your GP. MindTree Psychologists are registered with Medicare and provide psychological services under the Better Access Initiative. Eligible clients can claim a Medicare rebate of $124.50 per individual session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. This reduces your out-of-pocket costs to $64.50 per session. For convenience, Medicare and health insurance rebates are processed at the time of your appointment and paid directly into your nominated bank account.

In order to receive a rebate from Medicare, you will need to make an appointment with your GP, who will assess whether you are eligible for a referral given your healthcare needs and circumstances. Should you wish to discuss this with your GP, we recommend requesting an extended appointment. If your GP determines that you would benefit from seeing a Psychologist, you will be provided with a document known as a Mental Health Treatment Plan, which will allow you to claim your rebate. You will need to bring a copy of your Mental Health Treatment Plan to your first appointment in order to claim the Medicare rebate for your sessions. Mental Health Treatment Plans are available for a range of psychological issues, including difficulties adjusting to life challenges, such as the loss of a loved, divorce or separation, and loss of employment. Clients who are referred to MindTree Psychology by their Psychiatrist or Paediatrician are also eligible to receive the Medicare rebate and do not require a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan.
MindTree Psychology is registered with most private health funds. If you have private health insurance that includes psychological counselling as extras cover you may be eligible for a partial rebate. Rebates from private health funds will vary, depending on the health fund and the level of insurance cover. We recommend contacting your insurance provider for further information about your personal coverage and the rebates you are entitled to.
We are able to process most private health fund rebates on the spot using our HICAPS system, which means you only pay for the gap fee at the time of your appointment.
MindTree Psychology is committed to making psychological services available to all people, irrespective of their financial situation. We offer a limited number of bulk-billing appointments, which means there are no out-of-pocket costs to clients. In circumstances of financial hardship, we can also reduce our fee.

Our bulk-billing and reduced-cost services are reserved for Concession and Health Care Card holders, including clients who receive an age or disability pension, are unemployed, or a full-time tertiary student. We have limited bulk-billing and reduced fee appointments available, but do our best to accommodate people’s needs.
The Chronic Disease Management Scheme is a Government initiative that assists people living with a chronic disease or complex medical illness. Medicare rebates are available for treatment from allied health professionals, including Psychologists, who are assisting in managing the illness. The scheme allows a person with a complex or chronic illness to claim a Medicare rebate for a total of five sessions.

Before you can access psychological services under the Chronic Disease Management Scheme, your GP is required to prepare a management plan (called a GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangements) so that your illness can be better managed with the assistance of allied health professionals.
An Employee Assistance Program is a work-based initiative designed to enhance the emotional, mental and general wellbeing of employees and includes services for immediate family members. An employer can elect to fund up to a specified monetary limit or nominate a certain number of appointments they wish to provide to support their employee.
If your workplace offers an Employee Assistance Program, your employer can make a referral to us and cover the cost of services on your behalf. Any communication with your employer, including invoicing, will be managed to ensure your confidentiality is maintained. In order for us to provide services under an Employee Assistance Program, your employer is required to supply us with a written request to provide psychological services.
Our services are bulk billed for holders of a DVA Gold Card. For those who hold a DVA White Card, please check with the Department of Veteran Affairs to determine if you are eligible for psychology services. Our fee for a standard neurocognitive or intelligence assessment is $620 (incl. GST). This fee includes an initial interview, administration of applicable tests, preparation of a psychological report, and a feedback session to discuss the outcomes of the assessment with the client or their carer. Depending on the needs of the client and the purpose of the assessment, assessments fees may be reduced or, in the case of more complex needs, be increased. Questions relating to the set fee can be discussed directly with MindTree Psychology prior to making an appointment.
As a courtesy to other clients needing appointments, it is appreciated if you could let us know as soon as possible if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment.
MindTree Psychology has a 24-hour cancellation and rescheduling policy. If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please notify us no later than 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. This gives us enough time to offer your appointment to other clients. If you cancel or change your appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged 75% of the full-fee for this session. Please note that Medicare and private health funds do not provide rebates for cancelled or unattended appointments.
